Legends of the Canyon (2010)

LEGENDS OF THE CANYON delivers the story of the advent of rock music spawned in the garden of the Hollywood Hills, Laurel Canyon. Many of rock music’s legendary artists of the late 1960’s brought to life the anthems of a generation in these hills, in a commune-like setting. CROSBY STILLS and NASH, The Mamas and the Papas, Joni Mitchell, America,, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds and many others…
Chatsworth, Calif. – In the late 1960s, there was a small, elite community living in Laurel Canyon, hidden in the Hollywood Hills. “Elite” not in wealth, or material comfort, but in talent: to create, to communicate.
On August 31, Image Entertainment presents “Classic Artists: Legends of the Canyon,” a film that relives the joy and music that came from that artistic sanctuary in the dreaming hills. Narrated by famed rock photographer Henry Diltz (CSNY´s official photographer), with a variety of original photographs–some never before exhibited–and rare footage, “Classic Artists: Legends of the Canyon” is a trip back in time when the summers were made of love, when revolution was in the air and everything seemed possible.
The passion of Crosby Still and Nash, the gentle harmonies of The Mamas and the Papas, the poetry of Joni Mitchell, the Buffalo Springfield´s portraits of a society in turmoil, the Byrds´ high-flying voices and guitars…the songs of these legends and more are all included in “Classic Artists: Legends of the Canyon.” This film captures a time of hope–authentic, yet magical–a phenomenon we possibly might never see again.
